Gus Grissom

Lost what? What have we lost?

John Young

Lost a primary converter.

John Young

I'll get that heater off.

John Young

Okay, I'll get the mains back off.

Gus Grissom

Are you sure you didn't bump the converter to the OFF position?

John Young

That switch way up there?

Gus Grissom

No, you couldn't, could you?

John Young

Want to try it back on the primary and see what happens?

Gus Grissom

That's how we lost it. Yes.

Gus Grissom

Okay. That did it.

John Young

How's that circuit breaker set-up up there?

Gordon Cooper (CapCom)

Roger. How's your status on that thruster?

Gus Grissom

It's still GO. We're still drifting a little bit, Gordo. It's not bad. I can hold it with Pulse with no problem. But we did lose our primary dc-dc converter.

Gordon Cooper (CapCom)

Roger. Lost your primary dc-dc.

Gus Grissom

That must not have been the scanner problem though.

Gordon Cooper (CapCom)

Have you tried your circuit breaker, Gus, on that?

Gordon Cooper (CapCom)

Molly Brown, have you tried your circuit breaker to cut off that one erratic thruster.

Gus Grissom

I don't know which one it is. Let's see—yaw left—

John Young

Yaw left. It would be either OAMS No. 7 or 8.

Gus Grissom

We're not getting any roll with it.

John Young

It really is pitching up, isn't it?

Gus Grissom

Yes, but it's stopping.

Gus Grissom

That stopped it, all right.

John Young

I turned the auto heater back on.

John Young

I should turn that off till the cryo pressure comes down.

Gus Grissom

Flight control loss.

Gus Grissom

Now it's drifting us the other way.

John Young

It's hard to see in here, isn't it?

Gus Grissom

Can't pull it off? Can't you get it off?

John Young

What time is it now?

Gus Grissom

We're just about over … Africa.

Gus Grissom

We'll cross the east coast of Africa here before long.

John Young

Hand me one of those towels over there in your box, will you?

Gus Grissom

Okay. Are they on top?

John Young

No, they're back in the back.

Gus Grissom

Hey! We're coming in on the night side.

Gus Grissom

Look at that night come up.

Gus Grissom

I ready you okay, Gordo. How do you read Molly Brown?

Gordon Cooper (CapCom)

Roger. How's your control system?

Gus Grissom

Cape CAP COM. How do you read Molly Brown?

Gordon Cooper (CapCom)

I'm reading you weak but readable.

Gus Grissom

Yes, you are almost unreadable.

Gus Grissom

I said I can read you, Gordo.

Gordon Cooper (CapCom)

Roger, I'm barely reading you also.

Gordon Cooper (CapCom)

How—is—your—control—system? Over.

Gus Grissom

That stuff goes right on by us.

John Young

Okay. That's right. Now I've got the suit closed.

Gus Grissom

There is lightning out there.

Gus Grissom

Look at that stuff going by. Oh boy! Really does sparkle doesn't it?

Gus Grissom

Now you can see those thrusters firing back there.

Gus Grissom

Now you give this blood pressure, don't you?

John Young

I'll give it. You want me to give it?

John Young

It says Command—Oh! Oral temperature.

Gus Grissom

Oh, I mean oral temp, John. Can you get the thermometer out?

Gus Grissom

I can't get the blood pressure bulb in.

John Young

Maybe you are pushing it in the wrong end.

John Young

Okay. We're back to NORMAL on the waste valve.

Gus Grissom

How can you tell the difference between the ends?

John Young

All I know is it won't insert in one end, and it does insert with the other. I never saw a blood pressure bulb like that before this flight.

John Young

Look at that! It's beautiful!

John Young

There's the Southern Cross and Alpha and Beta Centuri.

Gus Grissom

Are those thrusters firing?

John Young

Oh, you doing it?

Gus Grissom

Yes, we are yawing. I've got to keep it from yawing so far around.

John Young

Going to do this O2

John Young

Want me to put it back in and give them a blood pressure?

Gus Grissom

If you can get it in. I can't.

John Young

What time is it?

Gus Grissom

41 elapsed. I get CSQ at 42:19.
